Adoption Process

The Potter League welcomes everyone considering adoption of a shelter animal. We encourage prospective adopters to fill out our questionnaire describing the kind of companion animal they desire. The resulting pet personality profiles and staff evaluations aid our adoption counselors in finding the right pet for each adopter’s lifestyle.

Overview

Dogs and cats available for adoption have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, examined by a veterinarian, and are up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age. They are fed Hill’s Science Diet food while at the shelter.

Fees

Dogs $275
Puppies (6 months & under) $375
Cats $125
Kittens (6 months & under) $175
Rabbits $50
Other Small Animals $20 to $65

We offer a 10% military (active and veteran) and senior (65+) discount on adoption fees.

Fee includes:

Dogs and cats: ID tag, certificate for veterinarian exam within 14 days of adoption (participating vets only, strongly recommended), any available medical records

Dogs only: 1 month crate rental, discount for basic obedience class, and free admission to Doggy 101 (required for puppies under 6 months)

Cats only: Safety collar, cardboard carrier

What’s next?

Our obligation to our adopted animals does not end when they walk out the door. Our behavior staff is available to help with any behavior problems our adopters may experience. Dog adopters may attend our free adopter training classes every Sunday.
