Among the many group classes we offer, the Potter League also offers private consultations to the public. Please call or email our Director of Behavior & Training, Byron Davies at ByronD@PotterLeague.org or 846-8276 ext. 104. Consultations are made by appointment only and held either in the shelter or in your home. Fees apply. |
| Puppy One |
Our age-appropriate Puppy Class will focus on bonding, house & crate training, nipping, chewing, and jumping. Instruction includes supervision & management skills as well as socialization & handling. Some basic obedience will be introduced. Owners learn to understand & effectively deal with the stages of puppy development. |

This age-appropriate Puppy Two class will focus on juvenile behaviors such as barking, jumping, biting, and digging. Instruction includes ongoing supervision & management skills as well as continued socialization & handling. Basic obedience will be introduced. Owners learn to understand & effectively deal with the final stages of puppy development. |
Puppy Honors & Junior Honors

Congratulations! You and your dog have successfully completed our Puppy One or Puppy Two class! These classes will focus on advancing your dog's skills to the next level. Using common distractions, you will work on learned commands and be introduced to some of the exercises used in our Canine Good Citizen program! |

Our Basic Obedience class is for adolescent & adult dogs with no prior training. This class will reinforce good behaviors while extinguishing unwanted ones. Learn & review basic obedience. Important social skills will also be introduced. |

| Smart & Fit |
Exercise your dog's body & mind with this new class! Designed to teach you & your dog some basic skills & show you how they can be used in agility activities!
In the 1st half of each class, you will practice several basic obedience exercises. In the 2nd half of each class, we wil introduce different agility equipment using the commands learned.
With their newly learned skills, dogs will learn more quickly & both of you will have lots of fun!
This class is NOT a substitute for the Basic Obedience class and is a bit faster paced. The commands taught will be directly related to Agility commands which can be used in every day life as well! |
| Small Breed Obedience |
This class is specially designed for small dogs & their unique personalities. Join other small dogs & their humans for an action-packed class. Learn to reinforce good behaviors & eliminate negative ones. |
Separation Anxiety WORKSHOPS |
Is your dog unable to be left alone? Doe he panic, chew on door frames or destroy things when you leave the house? Come and learn how you can manage your anxious 'velcro' dog.
These sessions are Workshop and Question & Answer forums. No dogs please. |

*New*New*New* Beginner "Try-it" Dog Sport Classes: Agility Doggy-O (Rally-O) Dancing with your Dog (Freestyle) |
Dip your paw in the waters to see if you and your dog like these FUN dog sport classes. Join other beginners for these non-competitive and interactive classes. First-time attendees to any of these classes are welcomed at no charge but we still need you to pre-register so we can be sure you and your dog receive adequate attention and time for any questions you may have. |
| Agility - Intro |
Does your dog love to exercise his body and his mind? If so, you might want to try Dog Agility. During this new 3 week class you and your dog will be introduced to the basics of dog agility and each week you and your dog will build on your learned skills. Dogs are leashed and all training is positive & non-competitive. The aim of this class is for you and your dog to have some one-on-one exercise and fun together!

| Agility - Level One |
Ready to learn more? This class will introduce more obstacles such as the A-frame, tire jump, large tunnel and weave poles. Class is still relaxed and non-competitive. Pre-requisite: Familiarity with small tunnel, weaving, jumps, hoops & a few basic obedience commands.

Doggy-O
(Rally-O) |
Need to brush up on obedience? Talking, praise, & rewarding are encouraged. This class is held in a relaxed & informal environment. Perfect for beginners, timid, high strung, or unsure dogs. |

Leash Reactive
|
This class is for dogs who are reactive (lunging, barking, growling) toward other dogs when on leash. Learn calming techniques, how to manage your dog when on-leash around other dogs, and how to teach your dog to react more appropriately when he sees another dog. This class does not address aggression towards humans or dogs who are only aggressive towards other dogs when off-leash.
Prefer to attend without your dog? Because we are aware that a leash-reactive dog is distracting & hard to control, we do provide the opportunity to observe, learn and ask questions even if you choose to leave your dog at home. Observation slots are limited. Fee is the same.

Leash Reactive REFRESHER |
Practice all the skills you have learned in the Leash Reactive class!

Cafe Dog: A Manners Class |
Prepare your dog to meet and greet family members and friends in a civilized manner! Some behaviors taught in this class are - "leave it," "sit for greeting," and "settle." No longer will you need to lock your dog upstairs while the party is going on! Using positive reinforcement methods, this class will address real life situations, such as NOT devouring the hors d' oeuvres on the coffee table! This fun and important class will culminate with a pot-luck meal with your well-mannered dog behaving right by your side!
Pre-requisite: Dogs must be people and dog friendly and have reliable "sit" and "stay" commands. |
Loose Leash Walking |
Is walking your dog a real drag??? If so, then join us and learn techniques that will guarantee a pleasant walk for you and your dog!
Pre-requisite: dogs must know commands sit, down, stay, & watch me. Prior completion of an obedience class is highly recommended.

Canine Good Citizen EVALUATION
Canine Good Citizen CLASS |
Interested in earning a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Certificate?
Would you like your dog to be a companion for all people; to be a respected member of the community, to behave at home, in public & around other dogs?
Sign up for an evaluation with an accredited AKC CGC evaluator. Your dog will be evaluated on certain commands and behaviors.
Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of the evaluation.
For those who do not successfully complete the evaluation, the evaluator will consult with you and may recommend specific training.
Take a class to earn the Canine Good Citizen Award. This class will practice the 10 CGC testing requirements your dog will encounter in the CGC test. On the 5th week you will take the CGC test to see if you and your dog can get your CGC certificate. Pre-requisites for this class: Dogs must know sit, down, stay & loose leash walking. Dogs must accept petting from strangers without exhibiting shyness. Dogs must not be reactive or aggressive towards other dogs. A CGC evaluation is required before being placed in class. Small Breed Play Group Kids 8 yrs & older are welcome when accompanied by an adult. |
Here's your opportunity to give your dog all the fun with none of the "big" guy intimidation! Small dogs interact in a supervised, safe environment with appropriate play. |
