Volunteer Orientation
The Potter League has a broad range of opportunities for volunteers to help the animals! If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out an online application. Volunteers under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Orientations are held monthly at:

Pet Loss Support
We offer a Pet Loss Support Group that meets on a monthly basis. There is NO fee to attend but pre registration is required. This program provides supportive help for those who have been touched by the loss of a pet, those anticipating the loss of a pet, and those dealing with the difficult decision of euthanasia. Potter Pet University
Due to construction of our new animal shelter, Pet University classes have been postponed until the fall of 2008. Be on the lookout for new and exciting topics!
Obedience Classes
All Obedience Classes, Play Groups, FUN Agility, and Specialty classes are held at the Middletown Tradesman Center located at 305 Oliphant Ln, Unit #19, in Middletown. Just minutes from the shelter! Level One Foundation (dogs 9mo and older)
Reinforce good behaviors while extinguishing unwanted ones! Review & learn basic skills while adding distance, duration, & distraction. Socializing & exercising geared for the older dog.
For dogs with NO prior obedience training.
6 weeks / $110
Monday Evenings 6-7pm
April 28-June 9 ( NO class Memorial Day)
Open Obedience (dogs 6mo and older)

Need a refresher on one or more obedience exercises?
Want to spend some constructive time with your canine companion
working at your own pace on a behavior that you would like improved? Then join us!
Instructor(s) will offer tips to help you with your own specific issue.
In addition, a different skill will be taught at each class!
Pre register for any classes that are convenient for you!
For dogs WITH prior obedience tranining.
$15 per dog, per class. Class will last about 1 hour.

Canine Good Citizen or CGC (all ages welcome)
Learn to teach your dog to be a companion for all people, to be a respected member of the community & be trained & conditioned to always behave in the home, public places, & in the presence of other dogs in a manner that will reflect credit on the dog & the owner! CGC classes are non-competitive, informal training. CGC is not a title, it is an award!
Pre-requisites:
Dog MUST know basic commands; Sit, Down, Stay, and Loose Leash walking.
Dog MUST accept petting from strangers without exhibiting shyness.
Dog MUST NOT be reactive or aggressive towards other dogs.
Dogs must be up to date on all vaccines which are appropriate to their age.

Puppy Classes
For new puppy registrations, our instructors teach a five week session for puppies 2-4 months and a six week session for puppies 4-9 months in age. Puppies who have completed these courses are eligible to join advanced classes like Open Obedience!
Puppy One (dogs 2-4mo)
Class focuses on bonding, house & crate training, nipping, chewing, and jumping. Instructor will lightly cover basic obedience. Learn supervision & management as well as socializing & handling.

Thursday Evenings 6-7pm
May 8-June 12
Puppy Two Foundation (dogs 4-9mo)
Time to review good house manners including house & crate training! Work on behavior management: chewing, jumping, biting, etc...Instructor will teach self control, socializing, & exercising all geared for the adolescent years. Learn basic exercises plus life-saving skills such as come & stay while slowly adding distractions, distance, & duration.
For dogs with NO prior obedience training
6 weeks / $110

Agility Classes
FUN Agility! (all ages welcome)
How often do you get to 'just have fun' with your dog? Join us and learn obstacles such as: jumps, hoops, weaving, etc...It's a great way for you & your dog to bond, play, & work on obedience in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere; All at your own pace!
Classes are held indoors and moved outdoors if weather permits.
Cost is $10 per dog, per class

Specialty Classes
Small Breed Play Group - Here's your opportunity to give your dog all the fun with none of the "big" guy intimidation! All ages welcome. For dogs 25lbs and under. Cost is $5 per dog.

Rally O - This group is fun and dogs think it's hilarious! Rally-O is a cross between obedience and agility! Talking, praise, and rewarding are encouraged. This group is held in a relaxed and informal environment. Perfect for beginners, timid, high strung, or unsure dogs.
All ages welcome
