The board is the guardian of the organization’s mission. It is the board's responsibility to ensure that the mission is relevant and vital to the community and to monitor the success of the organization in fulfilling its mission.

The following individuals have volunteered their time and energy on behalf of the organization and we genuinely appreciate their commitment.

Board Committees for 2011-2012
The bylaws of the organization have established a number of committees (known as standing committees) and these have specified responsibilities and membership.

Standing Committees
Audit Committee (members appointed by Board President)
Building & Grounds Committee* (composed of Board & Community Members)
Development Committee* (composed of Board & Community Members)
Executive Committee (chaired by President, composed of the Officers)
Finance Committee* (chaired by the Treasurer,composed of Board & Community Members)
Governance Committee (composed of Board Members)

* These committees often have openings for members of community with a particular area of expertise.  The responsibilities and the members of the committees are dictated by the bylaws of the organization.

Ad Hoc Committees*
Volunteers: Improve recruitment, orientation, education, utilization and management
Animal Health: Research needed medical services for shelter animals
Program: Explore the gaps of services in our service area
Public Policy: Research needed statutes to improve the wellbeing of companion animals at the local, state and regional level.

* Guided by the Strategic Plan, Ad Hoc Committees are established which research and report back to the Board.  Membership on these committees consists of a combination of board, staff and community members.
